Script consultant for tv and film
JOhanna
has worked as a dramaturg and script consultant since 2012.
Story structure, genre knowledge, character development and the audience’s point of view is her specialty. It’s her expertise, and also something she has been lecturing at university level since 2011.
To her, there are four key components in script consulting besides analyzing the scripts and stories. First, it’s always about finding out what the writer’s or the team’s vision is. Second, the audience point of view – how can one make sure the audience understands the story and is deeply moved, and entertained by it. Three, it’s about presenting facts to her clients in a structured and coherent way which makes the notes and the thoughts behind them useful, workable and easy to understand. Last but not least, she prefers to set a joint vision for the whole development team to make sure everyone is on the same path in the next stage of the development process.
For a production company, distributor or tv network/streamer there are two ways to work with her. In the first offer, she delivers an extensive script report and gives a two-day workshop. The second offer is to hire her as a creative coach for the development team or writer, either for a few sessions or to work alongside the development.
Her extensive reports have been developed to make sure that her clients can trust and rely on her analysis. The client and team will get a thorough report that every time delivers the same precise analysis at every time. Her report does not give solutions nor points fingers, but is an analysis of what the audience experience and how and why the audience interest and engagement might be lacking. The workshop that follows the report aims to unite the team, build a bridge to the next development stage and work through the main development issues.
During the past 14 years she have mainly worked in the Nordic countries, mostly with Finland and repeatedly with Yle Drama. Some of the 50+ projects I have consulted on during the years are Queen of Fucking Everything, Paradise and Bordertown/Sorjonen.

Johanna
has worked as a consultant for the book publishing industry since 2017 where she among other things created development tools for Storytel Originals. Her extensive experience as a script consultant is very useful in the changing lanscape of the book industry, as audio puts new demands on literary work.
She work both as a creative consultant/coach for published authors and as a story consultant for publishers.
